It’s hard to believe that on Thursday 4 February 2021, Andrew (@TigerTex1) celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary.
I’m incredibly thankful that I have found someone in my life who not only I love and adore but who is my best friend and confidante. We are very different to each other but we share same morals and ethics when it comes to life. Everything else is discussed and negotiated but we have the same goals of what we want to do in our lives and how to lead our lives. Andrew has certainly made me a better woman – a lot calmer and settled – because I know he has my back as I have his. He has supported me in every insane idea I come up with and my greatest cheerleader.
One of the things we do as our tradition for our anniversaries is to visit a different restaurant and try out new cuisines. Last year it was Russian and this year, it was Hungarian. We went to a nearby restaurant called Budapest on Glenhuntly Road Elsternwick.
We ate fried camembert with a beetroot and yoghurt dip then for main meals we both had the goulash (beef and chicken). I loved the spatzle – nokedli – which were the dumpling noodles (galuska) that soaked up all the juices. The meal was washed down with Hungarian red wine and a dark ale beer.
I have to thank everyone on Twitter who responded with a Congratulations to the tweet I sent out of the photo of us and in particular to Karen Geraghty (@YankeeDoodlePad) for sharing our story of how Andrew and I met on her blog too.
Recipes To Try Out:
In an inspired state, I checked online to see what I could do to recreate Hungarian dishes at home. Of course, it would mean I would have to cook. I much prefer to go to Budapest.
It’s always great sharing photos on Twitter because then people give you MORE ideas for food.
So I hunt down some langos which turns out to be Hungarian fried bread which my mum makes A LOT of! (and here’s me it was her recipe!!)
Watch a couple of Americans eating it… (in Greek, I would say, “na sas katsei!” (may it sit on you) as I’m watching them I’m getting jealous.
Okay this post started off with writing about our wedding anniversary and went on a dangerous tangent of Hungarian food recipes while I sit here drinking coffee and munching on French sugared palmiers and it’s near dinner time….
Right what’s for dinner?

I’ve never tried Hungarian before, but hey maybe I’ll give it a go now, might let the experts cook for me first before giving it a go. What a nice anniversary tradition!

Thank you so much Cherish, I appreciate you reading and commenting. Yes, give it a go. It looks like it’s a great cuisine for winter. Comfort food and hearty food. I’ll be revisiting during the colder months and trying the goulash and the dumplings for myself.
