Last week, the ladies from our golf club, my 2022 Women Into Golf Program, all decided to head to 13th Beach Golf Club at Barwon Heads to play two rounds of golf over two days.
I’m so happy I participated in this 6 month program that not only has helped my golf but it now has created a life-time social group that I can be a member. We all get along well and it’s lovely to not only play golf but also support and share our lives through the ups and downs.
When I arrived at the club after a 2 hour leisurely drive, I parked next to this Lamborghini and made sure I was extra careful in opening my car door. 🤣
I have a very old car that at times, I worry that it would breakdown somewhere. There’s cobwebs in the mirrors and door handles and moss growing on some windows. Sometimes it doesn’t even lock properly but I figure everyone would be looking at the yellow car and not at my rust bucket.
We were lucky with the weather. Two days of sunshine, blue skies and little wind. On both days I opted to use the motorised buggy because both courses are long and wide. Despite using the cart, I still did over 12000 steps on both days.
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been reading The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne. Initially I was finding it slow but the more I picked it up, the further I got into the story that spans a lifetime of one gay bloke and all his trials and tribulations. It’s an insight on how difficult it was for gay people in Ireland in the earlier years.
It’s the book I chose for the Book Club so I’m writing notes as I read it in preparation for the meeting in a couple of weeks. This time, the Cheltenham Library came to my rescue by offering a stack of 10 books for me so that I could hand them out to our Book Club members so they wouldn’t need to buy them or source the book themselves.
Apart from the golf, I’ve still been staying at home a lot. I decided to do a massive clean up of our cluttered garage. I emptied everything out, put some things out for the hard rubbish collection, and swept out all the years of dust, leaves and cobwebs.
There’s so much space in there now that we could fit a car!
I stored things away in boxes and labelled everything so now everything has a place. I even found a stash of all our teddy bears that smelt musty so Andrew hung them out in the sunshine to get rid of the smell. However, today, I’ve decided to just wash them in wool wash instead and rehang them to dry out. We will keep some and get rid of the rest.
This week is fairly quiet again. We have Melbourne Cup holiday but as we aren’t into horse races, my time has been spent cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom and doing small bits of spring cleaning. Once Andrew retires in a year’s time, we will revisit the cleaning as we get rid and declutter more of his stuff he’s accrued over the years. I’m whittling down my books and selling stuff on eBay which has worked a treat for me. I’ll continue to do that and just create more room and manageable spaces at home.
