We headed off for home this morning from Inverloch and just about the time we were to leave, we saw the kangaroos outside our room!
They’re cute to watch but I wouldn’t suggest going near them in case they kick and scratch you which could be lethal.
A short four minute trip by car, we were at The Caves but due to high tide, we couldn’t see them but had to just make do with a bit of rock rambling. The area is a dinosaur excavation site as dinosaurs roamed this area 150 million years ago when it was a flat river valley freezing cold and in darkness being attached to Antarctica.
Further down the road we arrived at the sleepy coastal township of Cape Patterson which has a lovely beach and rock pools. In summer months, the area must have more people enjoying the beach but this morning, there was hardly anyone about even though we saw lots of different foot, paw and animal prints in the sand.
Then, we jumped into the car and within two hours, we were back at home.
I’m so glad we got to visit this amazing place so close to home but this is going to be our last holiday as Andrew will spend time focussed on work and wrapping it up in preparation for his retirement. He has more relentlessly busy days ahead. ☹️
Our next holiday will be a few days spent at Phillip Island nearby to celebrate our 20th anniversary in 18 months or so (after which he’d have finally stopped work FOREVER and hopefully, we could travel more often. His crazy work hours coming to an end phew!). 👍
