What a lovely few days of rest and relaxation š
We decided to go on a short trip to Inverloch which is a 2 hour drive east along the coast from our home. Iāve never been to this part of Victoria instead always opting for the western side of the state towards the Twelve Apostles. However the eastern side has wilder coastline and less tourists.
Unfortunately we werenāt lucky with the weather. The days we chose were the worst for Melbourne weather with the most rain and wind in a long time.
Our drive to get here was scary at times as Siri took us through the roads that bypassed the highways. In between the breaks of rain, I saw the most spectacular scenery.
We saw lots of fields of horses and cows and even a fox ran across the road at one stage.
When we got to the resort, we were thankful for the early check in and an opportunity to rest, have a look around of all its amenities and activity areas then chill out in the bar with some drinks and nibbles.
The resort is an all contained area with different accomodation options from cabins, caravans and motel rooms. Thereās a gymnasium, tennis courts, swimming pool and lots of different outdoor and indoor games and activities for those who have children. Itās near some spectacular coastline and the site where most dinosaur fossils have been found in Australia.
We paid for the Winter Warmer Package.
As long time RACV members, we get various discounts and perks. The package included (along with our 2 night accommodation), a box of home made chocolates, a bottle of wine, 2 cocktails, two dinners and two desserts and two buffet breakfasts for $519.
It was excellent value for the price (considering to buy steak for dinner cost $68 and a plate of barramundi was $45 š® as an example – so the Package was superb value and one which Iāll now look out for in future). It was lucky I saw it promoted in one of their email newsletters!
Before dinner, we enjoyed our cocktails at the Zenith Lounge looking out at the spectacular wild coastline.
Dinner was delicious and it was a chance to just chat, enjoy the meal and make plans for when Andrew will stop work and retire in exactly 82 weeks. (Heās counting down the days š¤£).
Our plan then is to do more of these short trips around Victoria, also travel around Australia and the world (fingers crossed all goes well with the world!!) For now though, he is focused on his work so no more trips like this until then.
All the meals here were delicious and well presented. Service was exceptional and really, I canāt fault this place. The buffet breakfasts had an immense array of food to start the day as well.
After breakfast we decided to walk around the trail that is around the resort sign posted such various indigenous points of interest as well as walked up to the lookout. I also had a go on the āgyro swingā in the playgroundā¦ā¦š¤£
Local aboriginal tribes used to fish in the fresh water lagoons as well as use the coastal track down to a wild surf beach with rocks and cliffs.
We walked along the beach for a couple of hours to walk off breakfast.
It was cold and breezy but the sound of the crashing waves and being out in the fresh air was invigorating. I imagined dinosaurs š¦ roaming this area millions of years ago and tried to look down at the rocks in the hope of seeing a fossilā¦
Thereās something quite mesmerising about watching the waves crash into each other. The rest of the time was spent in the pool and spa, reading and knitting. It was a great way to chill out and just take in the scenery.
