This morning we headed off to Essendon Fields, an area near the airport that has airfield and various hangars that are now a bustling retail precinct.
I had bought a voucher for Andrew to experience indoor skydiving but as he had a frozen shoulder for most of the year, he couldn’t use it. Now that his shoulder is fine and he’s well and truly back into his golf, the indoor skydiving voucher had to be used before the next month’s expiry.
Truth be told, I thought he would be too anxious to get in the tube but I was surprised. He took it all in his stride, went through the brief and even decided to go for a few spins right to the top.
After filling out waiver forms and the like, the group was briefed and kitted up with coveralls and glasses. There were only two other people with him this morning who were training for skill development so it was great to watch them how they do this.
There’s a variety of different dives you can do and heaps of packages to choose from. When I did this a few years back, I had so much fun that I always remembered that I wanted to have Andrew experience it too. I’m much more adventurous when it comes to these things.
Despite initial trepidation, I’ll give anything a go (except outdoor sky diving – rappelling not included as I’ve done this a few times. I like going UP into the helicopter or even DOWN but I don’t like FALLING out of a plane, cave diving, bungy jumping or a mosh pit of concerts). I’ll consider anything else. 🤣
Andrew loved his first experience and mentioned to me that he can see how addictive it could get.
Maybe one day again, I’ll book us in to have another go for a bit of fun.
