As poor little Pud has been sick lately we monitor his health daily. It means unfortunately he’s not always using his litter.
Stressful for him as it is for me.
However, I’m not too fussed in all honesty. I keep a fairly tidy house but not “sterile clean” because that’s way too much work (and I’m allergic to most of the cleaning agents).
One of the ways I clean is to check where Pud may have soiled places using the Black light (UV torch). It shows up exactly where he’s urinated or sprayed so you can clean it up.
Fortunately, he has not been far from the litter box and everything is cleaned up immediately anyway.
However the UV light is soul destroying.
If you think that you have a clean house, once you shine that light over benches, utensils, walls, floors, sofas, anywhere really – you’ll see just how dirty everything is.
It shows up stains from sweat, urine, finger prints and more.
The kitchen, where meat is handled, basically looks like a crime scene.
The toilet, well, let me just say that there’s a reason why we have toilet lids and how we need to put them down when you flush because urine gets sprayed all over the walls near the seat!
Pretty gross.
So over the last few nights, I have been acting like some crime scene investigator.
At night, I can see exactly what and where cleaning needs to happen so the next day I could snap the gloves on and get to work.
I’ve wiped all kitchen, bathroom and toilet spaces now. The next thing I need to think about is how to wash all my walls. I use a steam cleaner for everything which I love and I’m wondering if I just blast them with a shot off blisteringly hot steam (and hope it doesn’t destroy them?!🙄).
Thankfully, my UV evidence wasn’t as bad but now I just feel better knowing that everything has been washed down and cleaned.
Today I even washed and cleaned the windows which I haven’t done in a couple of years.
Also the oven which was well in need of a good clean.
