Today I take to my car (I hired a 1955 Citröen DS – don’t ask about the cost because as it’s a virtual tour – money is no object so I splurged) and decided to drive around Lake Annecy in the French Alps. The reason is that it seemed that Annecy had SO MANY PEOPLE that I needed some space away from the crowds.
The drive usually takes about 90 minutes but I have the entire day, so the intention is to take it easy and stop where it looks interesting. Here’s the route…. (It was pretty hard because everywhere looked interesting!)
Here’s some more about this wonderful town – albeit a bit overcrowded for my liking. I spied the old Medieval prison on the Isle with envy. Here’s a great video to get a guided tour of the prison at the heart of this town at a time when it was closed to the crowd. Phew! (It’s in French though)
I had been thinking about heading off to Grenoble too but after the tour, I thought given that it’s an hour and a half away, instead I was going to park myself at a nearby cafe and just watch the crowds…

Thank you! I’m sure it would be even better in real life. 🤣
