Strap on those skis and let’s get ready to hit the slopes….
Well, not exactly.
It hadn’t started snowing but as I went further up into the mountains, the weather started to get cooler but I saw that around me was the grandeur of the mountains. I couldn’t wait to get up to Mont Blanc (4810m), the highest mountain in Europe, by cable car.
Today, is a day for me to just enjoy the splendour of being surrounded my the majestic beauty of the alps and be in awe of their splendour. Of course, I can walk through the town and check out the shops but as I don’t really do that here in Melbourne either (I’d much rather by out there on the mountain), I head for the hills….
Now as this is a virtual tour, there’s no need for accommodation but if I could, I’d be staying at the: Alpina Eclectic Hotel. Of course, I’ll just be dining there for breakfast and dinner sampling pretty much everything. I like the “eclectic” nature of this hotel and of course, I get the best room with the stunning views of the mountains.
However, as I’m in the alps, I need to check out some mountain fare – Savoyarde fare – so I enjoy an aperitif (well, I’m actually drinking some coffee turned cold) and find this recipe to watch….check out how much bacon he uses…. (I’m getting hungry as it’s nearly dinner time and I’ve not prepared any dinner for husband just yet….ooops this travelling all around France is taking a lot of my time….When he asks every day, “what did you do today?” I tell him that I travelled to Chamonix…and he rolls his eyes.).
Next stop: Lakeside Annecy and Grenoble
