With the change towards nicer weather (except for this week when we had bushfires on one day then flash floods the next and at the moment, it’s a cold 15 degree day), I thought it was time to start a summer crochet project.
I have been using the Tejer Es Des Guapas YouTube channel to follow along. I’m not an expert crocheter but I know enough to get by and thanks to her detailed demonstrations, I follow along.
All her videos are in Spanish and by default I’ve started to pick up Spanish knitting and crochet terms and when I count in my head, it’s in Spanish. 🤣
I had heaps of this merino bamboo blend yarn so I decided to crochet her Aquarius Sweater that she deems an easy pattern. It takes a while for me to learn this as I’m constantly playing the video, then stopping and rewinding then doing it myself. Half hour instruction usually equates to about two or three days of me going back and forth before the pattern is memorised.
Let’s see how I go. I’d like to think that my crochet skills can also increase to a more advanced level in the new year so that I could do a lot more of her patterns which I love although I’m running out of cupboard space with all my knitted sweaters, cardigans, cowls, scarves and beanies but don’t have the heart to give them away because the yarn I use is quality yarns such as merino, alpaca, mohair or blends as such.
They’d cost a mint if you bought them from a store so I’m not giving them away to a second hand store.
Besides, knitters would recognise the materials instantly and then buy it at a reduced price to frog it (unravel) to reuse this quality yarn.
No way am I going to let them do that! I’d rather regift these items to family and friends or knit for them instead. 🤣
