Time for a new book review that I just hit ‘publish’ on in YouTube. After Zamyatin and Dostoyevsky, Rich Hall’s was a welcome change.
I also tried Bundaberg Rum for the first time in my life (I’m more a G&T person than rum….)
Where Am I At with YouTube?
On another note, I checked my YouTube analytics and saw that I have reached the point where I can start monetising my channel.
I was surprised to see about 2350ish or so subscribers despite not using anything fancy tools or tactics with the back end to get more subscribers. In fact, I write in my Channel Profile that people NOT subscribe or like the videos and instead leave comments and book recommendations.
Maybe that’s not the way to make a bit of money but I now have reached the stage where I can monetise the channel although I’m not expecting it to make me rich anytime soon because ALSO in my Channel Profile, I go on about the fact that I can’t be bothered creating Shorts, using AI in any channel building for subscribers nor do I share the video on social media.
I also moderate all comments so when people post a comment they don’t see it automatically.
In effect, YouTube doesn’t like people like me at all because I’m trying to buck the trend to what everyone else is doing.
Let’s see where it goes.
I like the idea of people having to work hard to find me, share their thoughts, comment, or contact me. The idea of not being on social media or moderating posts means they can’t simply scan through their accounts to find me or write anything that is immediately public. They have to put in a bit of work to connect with me and form a well-thought-out response. I’m adopting the Seinfeld Soup approach to my online life.
