Today, I did nothing.
Nothing but sit back in my husband’s recliner, watching YouTube the entire day. The cat dozing in my chair while I allowed myself to have an entire day devoted to watching Kurt Vonnegut documentaries.
Something about today just made me make it all about this brilliant humanist writer. While I sat there in the dark and the warmth, it struck me how much I resonated with what he talked about when it came to enjoying what life has to offer.
Watch this brilliant Kurt Vonnegut lecture in the shape of stories he shares a story about this quote.
It made me think that sometimes we lose sight of the bigger picture always wanting more or thinking we are missing something in our life. I do that. Then I stop myself and think, “you are living your best life NOW so just enjoy it every moment!”
So here I was on a weekday sitting on my arse all day in front of the tele (I did write another 700 words today and another short story of 300 words) enjoying Kurt Vonnegut and having a laugh.
If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is. So it goes.
Quotes from Vonnegut

What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.
If people think nature is their friend, then they sure don’t need an enemy.
This country is being managed to death, being public related to death.
That is how you get to be a writer, incidentally: you feel somehow marginal, somehow slightly off-balance all the time.
Here’s an excellent documentary and what struck me is how nothing has changed. Much of what he talks about automation here.
