How have I NOT ever read this brilliant book before?!
Jane Eyre fast became one of the BEST books I have ever read in my life.
There’s a handful of books that I LOVE and adore and have somehow made an impact on my life. The first 10 are the ones I would throw into a suitcase and take with me if I had to leave in a great hurry. They are:
- The Catcher in the Rye – JD Salinger
- Invisible Cities – Italo Calvino
- A Fortunate Life – A. B. Facey
- A Moveable Feast – Ernest Hemingway
- Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte
- War and Peace – Leo Tolstoy
- The Old Man and the Sea – Ernest Hemingway
- The Mutiny on HMS Bounty – William Bligh
- Metroland – Julian Barnes
- Norwegian Wood – Haruki Murakami
Honourable Mentions:
- Perfume – Patrick Susskind
- The Alchemist – Paulo Coehlo
- The Bed of Procrustes – Nicholas Nassim Taleb
- Address Unknown – Katherine Kressman Taylor
Anyway, here’s my review of my heroine, Jane Eyre. (I loved this book so much that I bought it as a gift for my young niece. I hope that she draws some lessons from it).

There’s Jane Eyre, daylight, then every other book I’ve read.
