This video is worrying. Harari talks about how AI can be a danger for humanity.
To be honest, I’m fearful of the future. I’m not a fan of AI but I know that’ll it be part of our lives (and is) already.
In the early 20th century when atomic energy was discovered, the Allied powers rallied together to keep this technology out of the hands of Nazi Germany and other autocratic powers. They worked together and put aside their differences because they saw the power in it being able to wipe out humanity.
I don’t understand how governments have not yet determined that AI can do the same. Why aren’t they stopping their release into the public domain? Why are they not regulating this?
We don’t need AI to be sentient, AI is already manipulating the language that will create chaos in our systems. This will shake our beliefs in who we are; what we are; our purpose and meaning of what it means to be human.
If AI scrapes all the shit online then what we get back will be even worse (and we will believe it).
If AI is considered a “baby” in its development then shouldn’t we start moulding, forming, helping its development so that as it evolves, it learns to understand human factors such as caring, meaning, truth, empathy?
Shouldn’t we start to fill the internet with less hate and more meaningful dialogue and conversations? (It goes without saying that these conversations to be between HUMANS NOT AI).
“When AI hacks our language, it will be too late”
Is this the time that we need to become spiritual – to really question and seek out conversations that help us understand other humans and realise that we are one. Humanity needs and must come together now and have a way to put our differences aside and think of ways of how we work and experience life with these non-human intelligences.
If not, then I think it’ll be over. After all, what’s the point of anything in your life when absolutely nothing you see or read is what it seems?
I’m terrified.
