Welcome 2023!
I’m sitting here in bed tapping out this post on my phone and wondering what to write.
This morning, Andrew says to me that “isn’t it a tradition that you end the year in a way that you want it to start?” So end it with a celebration or something memorable to ensure that it ends the same way.
If that’s true, then for most years – and like the end of 2022 and into 2023, I was fast asleep. Last night, I blamed it on reading about Napoleon’s defeat in 1812 in Russia as I continued to read War and Peace. (I’m onto page 691 of 1224).
If I entered 2023 in a dream state, then let’s hope I enter 2024 the same way.
Refreshed, ready for a new year and all it has to offer.
I recently wrote about my minor plans for 2023. Overall though, I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m unlikely to return to work (as I knew it) ever again as I feel my old networks, ex-colleagues, and people from my past life of work drop away. My professional working life seems a distant memory.
To be honest, I read about topics like Microsoft, corporate life, social media and technology – all the things I was passionate about and wrote about in the past but today, they hardly rate a mention in my life anymore.
Now, it’s more like discovering that I have all this time and how to fill it with things that I love to do – or find out that I love doing.
If 2022 was a year of transition for me (to what, I don’t know but I do know that I’m way more calm, settled, happier) then 2023 I hope will be transformation.
Finally getting rid of the things that don’t serve me, people who don’t have the best interests for me or my family and replacing them with activities and people who enrich it in every way.
Wishing you all a happy new year and hope it brings you everything that you desire.
Here’s to 2023! 🎉🥳🎊

Happy New Year Helen! 2022 was also a year of transition for me as well as I semi-retired and started doing a business doing the same thing I was doing at work…and well, that didn’t last long 😂 Focused on having fun in 2023, walking /hiking, learning more about nature and it’s impact on our health and volunteering more.
Cheers to you and your adventures in 2023!

Chris!!! Hello!!!! How lovely of you to post and share what you’re doing. I love that you’re doing this. Walking and hiking is so beneficial for us. We have to share our stories of “transition” and how we are finding it. Last year I was troubled by it (wondering if I “should” work or not and feeling guilty). I don’t think 2023 will be like this. 🤣 Have a great new year and enjoy all it has to offer!
