19 January 2023 by Helen Blunden Leave a Comment Our New Fence A couple of years ago in between lock downs, we got a new driveway. However the paling fence between us and the neighbours started to droop. It needed urgent repairs but as we had different projects on the go, it was put aside until we could organise a tradesperson to fix it. We also had to chat to our neighbours and get them to agree to it too. The fence was an eye sore which also meant that it took away from the look of our driveway (which needs to be cleaned) 🤣 So after a long time, we managed to find a tradesperson who could fix it (the first one we wanted ended up being a no-show, however the delivery left the timber shipment on the neighbour’s pavement. A delay in building due to the freezing cold and wet weather we had yesterday (16) – even though the day before was 38 – meant that the timber was sitting outside for 2 days. Of course this meant that some of it was stolen overnight. Thankfully, the tradie wore the cost of this loss. They managed to buy some new timber from a nearby timber store. This artwork is something that my father drew many years ago and is hanging in our hallway. It denotes Minoans in Ancient Crete building Knossos the palace of King Minos. Andrew looks at the painting and turns to me and says, “I know who stole the timber!! It was THEM!” Ah the culprits there on canvas. 🤣 This is the fence nearly finished! They need to clean up and then it’s done. This took them from 9 am until 6 pm to finish. A big job – and a good one. I keep looking at it. Know anyone who would value this post?
