6 January 2023 by Helen Blunden Leave a Comment A Trip to East Malvern Tonight we went out for dinner at the Racecourse Hotel in East Malvern. The hotel has been around since 1858 and over the years, I’ve driven (or been driven) past it but never ventured inside. Tonight was the first time and it was a pleasant surprise – there were table cloths on tables so it was a upmarket pub. The above photo of the hotel was sourced by the Malvern Historical Society Facebook page that outlines its history. Later we walked off dinner through the beautiful streets of Edwardian homes of the area. In Epping Street, there’s the Greek Church St Katherine’s where Andrew and I got married. On those steps we had a Navy Guard and photos taken. Today is St Nicholas Day (December 6th) in the Orthodox calendar so we expect that the Christmas tree should be put away tomorrow! Andrew admiring the homes as he ponders what beers to buy at the Dan Murphy’s Liquor Superstore nearby. He’s found his porters, English and German beers. I’ve put some chocolate and peanut butter beers (for a taste) in the basket too. Time to go home to read. Friday night complete. Know anyone who would value this post?
