Yesterday was a gloriously sunny day which have been few and far between this summer with constant rain and hail.
I decided to take mum to Caulfield Park which is nearby but we hadn’t been in years. Many years ago, my father was a publican at one of the nearby pubs. We lived near the park: first at the pub then in some flat nearby.
The park was the place we’d go often for walks and bike rides. It brought great memories and every time I used to drive past it, I’d think “I must stop and check it out”.
Well, yesterday was the time for me to stop thinking it and just do it.
The last time we were here was 1984 and we sought out the trees we remember that we’re young. In 2022, it was great to see that they hadn’t been ripped out but were growing well.
The park has an excellent memorial to the fallen of the Great War and those who had served and were citizens living in Caulfield. The memorial is dedicated to the Battle of Beersheba in 1917.
There’s also a new section where the council planted some fruit trees and there’s a wild flowers garden. I took some photos to recreate these in our new landscaped back yard (work has finally finished after three months of work!!!) and plant the same flowers into terracotta pots. They’ll be my next actions in the coming weeks as I set up the outdoor area so we can enjoy our meals outside hopefully when the weather gets better.
Meanwhile Pud doesn’t care what we do as long as he gets his sleep. 🤣
