I’m quite happy with my reading of late.
One of my pleasures is that I’m an early riser and will spend at least a couple of uninterrupted hours every morning reading. During my reading sessions, I don’t have my phone near me.
In the evenings too, I’d rather read a book than watch a movie or a series on tv. It’s been a while since I turned on the television to watch anything.
I’ve been carrying my books everywhere so when I’m commuting on trains or sitting around waiting, out comes the book and not the phone.
Delightfully, I also have been leaving my phone at home or forgetting it.
Initially, there’s a bit of a panic attack but then that settles when I realise, I’m finally on my own. I cannot be interrupted. I’m free to let my mind wander.
My aim is to read 70 books this year but I’m a tad behind schedule.
Books I’m currently reading:
- Sue Townsend, The Woman Who Went to Bed for a Year
- Amy Edmondson, The Fearless Organization: Creating Psychological Safety in the Workplace for Learning, Innovation & Growth
- John Steinbeck, Cannery Row.
