I’m sitting up in bed looking out towards this window waiting for the rest of the house to wake up and get ready for the day.
It’s a quiet Saturday morning at a regional town of Elphinstone which has a general store, a pub, a cemetery and some homesteads dotted about.
We are staying here with at the friends (I&A) of my friend, M, who are wonderful hosts.
Last night we enjoyed a Sabbath dinner. Although I, a proud Scot, made it clear he was an atheist.
We cut the challah bread and lit candles then enjoyed a lovely meal of chicken soup, roast salmon and apple pie before sitting in front of the fire and talking and laughing.
I hadn’t seen them for a few years not since coming back up here where we pitched in to help in their back garden and where I interviewed I about him sailing around the world in a yacht and the book (one of the many he had written through his life) about these adventures.
The National Wool and Sheep Show yesterday in Bendigo was fantastic. It was the first time in two years it had happened as covid had meant that the show couldn’t go on. There were lots of people and big changes with renovations in pavilions and more food vans. We were lucky with the weather too.
Im looking forward to a leisurely day when everyone soon will get up. We will enjoy a breakfast. I may even go out and see the chook pen and see if they have eggs! I tells me that there are about 40 kangaroos in the area and they come right up to the house.
I hope to see them today!!
Later….I made a fire!!! This has made my day. I never get to do this in my real life. 💕
