I love some of the websites of knitting designers. One in particular, is Kate Davies Designs based in Scotland.
I’ve written about this pattern, Glenan in another post here in my blog but thought I’d share my progress to date.
As you can see it’s ticking along. This is my second project (I’m also knitting up a make scarf with some stitches that look like railway lines across its length) and that should be finished soon.
The Glenan is something I knit without the tv on and in silence. I’m finding it quite meditative so I pick it up in the early morning hours. It seems to have replaced my daily walking 🤣. (Although I must get back out there walking and running again).
As you can see, I’ve just got another or so of the same length to go before I hit the armpits and then work on the pieces separately. This is my first ever bottom up piece (I usually knit seamless top down) which I feel seems to be faster?
Anyway it’s an enjoyable knit and when the cabling starts, there’s a joy in seeing this appear. I’m using Bendigo Wool Mill’s new winter yarn range called Alpine (which they sold out) that has nebs in it which provides some interest. It’s also the first time I’ll ever wear that colour. Oh, it’ll be my first hooded knit too.
Lots of firsts. Well, always learning something and getting delighted with the results.
