It’s fascinating to see how much we get used to a situation and then fail to change it because it seems bothersome to do so.
For years, we didn’t replace all the light globes in our dining and lounge rooms for whatever reason. Instead I used lamps or lit candles, or just went to bed early. I was always complaining that there wasn’t much light and that we needed to replace the bulbs. However, we weren’t too sure if we needed to have an electrician come in first to check our wiring. For whatever reason, we assumed that we needed our wiring looked at. I think it was because a couple of light globes flickered and some light switches were loose.
So over the last couple of years with lockdowns and unable to have any tradesperson in the house, we just made do with lamps.
Today I thought “enough!”
I brought the ladder in from the garage then removed and the replaced all the globes. It took less than 20 minutes to do them all and when I turned the switch on, there was so much light!
I had bought soft white light 1400 lumen 11W globes and finally, I can appreciate that I won’t walk into something and hurt myself.
I do wonder why we make things bigger in our heads than what they are. After asking for my husband to change these globes and nothing happening, I just did it myself.
Next time, I’ll just do it myself – although I still need to organise an electrician to fix the loose switches!
