I have a head for hats.
If someone asked me to name one positive think about my body, it would be my head for hats.
That’s about it really. Everything else is pretty much take it or leave it.
Okay. Maybe my straight nose, my eyes (albeit myopic) and, umm…nah, that’s about it.
That’s a good thing about my head because lucky for me, I love wearing hats!
I have a whole heap of different ones in my cupboard and I love going through them every so often to try them out with different outfits.
I have:
A red felt trilby
A red and black beret. (My favourite out of all my hats is my black beret).
A wonderful collection of knitted beanies.
A couple of tweed peak caps.
A pink and blue Harris tweed Gatsby hat bought in Dublin.
A couple of bucket hats.
A fedora.
A dark green cloche hat bought from a lady who made them here and sold them at the St Kilda market. Very 1920s looking!
Today I went to a second hand store and found the best hat. It’s a woollen felt cross between a cloche and a Panama hat of my favourite colour – burgundy.
It’s a French designer hat by Marie Mercier and her hats are above $300. I got it for $10 and it will be a perfect winter hat for me. I’m chuffed that I found a designer hat for so cheap. It’ll go with everything.
All it needs is a bit of a wash and I have a block that I could put it on to dry it out and it’ll be good as new. That’ll be tomorrow’s job!
