Today I worked in the city.
It’s the time of the year where it gets dark early. There are dead leaves on wet and oily city streets underfoot and you need to be careful where you step so you don’t slip.
People are rushing to get to work or to get home. All in the dark.
I don’t like the city at this time of year.
It’s dark. It’s grim. It’s seedy. It reminds me of Batman’s Gotham City or worse, the futuristic wet and neon lighted city in the movie, Blade Runner. (That movie could well have been shot in Melbourne).
I finish up work then bolt as quickly as I can to Flinders Street Station to catch a train home.
I don’t want to be out here longer than I have to.
