Fang Bosun.
Now there’s a blast from the past.
That’s the Naval term for “dentist”.
I hadn’t been to the fang bosun for a while. Imagine when the dentist looked over his glasses at me and said, “well we haven’t seen you since 2018”.
That took me by my surprise.
“Wow, it feels like I was here just yesterday!” I exclaimed hurriedly trying to make light of the situation.
Well despite the comedy I tried to inject (pardon the pun) into the situation, it turns out that my tooth crown is cracked and I need a couple of fillings too.
Argh.
He said I was lucky.
Back in 2018, I had a huge abscess in my gum and the infection had gone deeply into my gum between two teeth. As a result, they had to remove one tooth. Today, the dentist confirmed that there is no infection (because that crown was cracked), or else he would have had to removed two teeth. That would mean I wouldn’t have teeth in the back half of one side of my mouth!
(Some years back I fainted in the shower and smashed my face onto the sink going down – the shower door fell open and I crashed heavily on the sink then floor). I dislocated my jaw, lost teeth and had months of slow recovery to get back to normal. Even now as I think about it, I could have died. Bit hairy when I think about it like that. So going to dentists and orthodontists was part of life fro a while.
Well now, I have to get into the habit of six monthly check ups so this doesn’t happen again. Its going to be an expensive operation. $1700 for it all.
Oh well. That’s where my tax refund is going to I guess.
