It’s my special day today.
To be fair, the older I get, the less significance this is to me but what I do enjoy are the chats and messages from family and friends on the day. I’m on the phone a lot because it rings throughout the day.
This morning Andrew surprised me with a cheesecake birthday cake which is what we had for breakfast. He sung Happy Birthday and I served us a slice of this delicious cake each.
It’s 4pm now and I’m still in my pyjamas. It was the kinda day where the television doesn’t get turned on, the cat is sleeping all day, it’s so quiet except for the clock ticking.
As it’s also Good Friday, everything is shut, the streets silent so I spent the day reading, eating (cake and some brocoli chips) and playing cards. (Today reminds me of being in lockdown ?)
Yesterday I bought a pack of Battleship, Cluedo and Monopoly cards yesterday as they were on sale for $4. I thought, “why not!”
Andrew figured out the rules then we played Battleship which was a bit of fun. Even better on a day where on the news, Russia had lost one of its own. ?
Later, while he read, I played a couple of different solitaire cars games. I never used to play cards as a kid (they were banned in our house), but during lockdown over the last couple of years, I started to learn some games as I’ve been enjoying playing them as they get me off the phone and also learning new things that pass time.
I received a lovely gift of a Golf Shop voucher, a health spa treatment (I love facials so it’ll go towards that) and a delicious hamper of goodies such as pink champagne, strawberries and creams, chocolate and biscuits. I am spoiled.
I have to go and put a proper tee shirt on now as I have a chat with my French friend on Zoom and I don’t want her to see me in my PJs. Later, we’ll eat “scratch” (open pantry and scratch around) and maybe watch a movie.
Overall a quiet and peaceful day at home with hubby. The best kind of days.
