While in Castlemaine over the weekend, we tried out a few of the local beers from microbreweries.
As I tap this post out onto the phone, Andrew is on the phone to a supplier trying to find where around Melbourne we can buy some more of these beers by the Shed Shaker Brewery. (They seem to only deliver around Castlemaine unfortunately).
I cooked up a spag bol for dinner (I had chickpea fettuccine which was a poor protein cousin to pasta but nevertheless these are the things I do for health) and I took some sips out of Andrew’s beer. I ended up nearly drinking the whole lot. The red Celtic beer and the espresso black lager were both delicious. We are fans of the amber and dark ales which for some strange reason, you can’t find a lot as breweries prefer the lighter ales and IPAs.
It looks like Shed Shaker don’t do wholesale to deliver around to any bottle-o’s in Melbourne. So I need a Plan B.
I’ll be heading up to Bendigo for the National Wool and Sheep Show and staying with friends on the outskirts of Castlemaine.
I think I’ll order the beers online and have them delivered to the friends place so they’re there once I go over.
It’s crazy to be thinking about doing a 2 hour drive just for a beer run. ?
Or alternatively, I might just head back to Castlemaine and this time take my parents for the weekend. I missed out on seeing the gold diggings and the art gallery and methinks my parents would be interested in that too.

Reminds me when I lived in Melbourne and a friend visited who was into beer. She talked me into taking a tour of the best places in
St Kilda and introduced me to stout and Porter as well as others.
