That’s what my 7 year old nephew was singing out loud to his friends and ending it with an ear piercing squeal at his seventh birthday on Saturday afternoon. The soundtrack of the Titanic the movie playing as background music to his birthday party celebration ?. I guess kids his age have certain obsessions. His happens to be The Titanic (the ship, not the movie) and he seems to know everything about this liner.
His parents celebrated the occasion by hosting his birthday party at the Moorabbin Air Museum.
It’s a great place where enthusiasts can go to get their aviation fix. It’s been around for 60 years and the best plane there (I believe) is a Beaufort Bomber which is still in workable condition. There are other planes, jets and helicopters to keep everyone, adults and children entertained for hours.
Naturally, the moment everyone arrived, music turned up (cue: Top Gun soundtrack) then they quickly dispersed to see the planes. The area is closed up so kids were running wild, squealing in delight, entering in, going up and through planes, turning on and off switches in the cockpit and having a good ol’ time. The museum also held a lot of interest and educational for the adults as well as it got them talking about something else other than politics and invasions.
All up a great afternoon to look around, get into some cockpits and pretend to fly for a bit. The Moorabbin Air Museum is well worth a visit if you haven’t been here before.
Tomorrow is Sunday. My last day of holidays before I go back to work on Monday. I’ve enjoyed my week off immensely and just what I needed to be doing something different every day and realising how much I enjoy doing my own things in my own time.
