This morning I decided to do my “work out loud” story using my phone camera and video editing software on my phone rather than using Instagram Stories (or in the past, I used Snapchat stories).
The reason is that as I have an old phone (iPhone 6), Instagram is now becoming glitchy on it and when I upload the final mp4 daily video onto YouTube, the video has some synching issues and there’s some green sections and pixelation that occurs. Therefore the quality isn’t there anymore.
So I decided to make it less painful and just capture video and photos with my phone and then pull it all together using VideoShop which I paid for a full account some time ago. I use it a lot so figured that I may as well use it now ongoing rather than fuss around with Instagram.
I know I’ll lose a lot of viewers and I’ll also miss their feedback and commentary they send me through DMs however, I’m also at a point in my life where I want to spend less time on social networks and more time writing or creating my own stuff. Therefore using this blog for my writing and YouTube for my video and portfolio work.
I have written a lot about how my social networks now aren’t really providing me much value except for touching base with some friends who I can contact directly but I’m at a point where it simply takes up too much time to continually try and find people who are sharing content that is valuable. Sure, I have my Super Network list which is my go-to however, much of what I share (I believe) happens to be of value to others but as I don’t have much feedback about whether it is or not, I’m not going to let this worry me. Instead, I will continue researching and discovering stuff that I can use – make use of it on my own – and not worry about the work of others. I’ll find it when I need it.
As a result, I thought I’d create my daily video ‘old school’ so here’s what I created today.
It took most time in the editing of course but as I’ve been using Video Shop for years, it was pretty quick. Knocked it up during my lunch as long as I had all the video files ready to go. It also took some time to upload into YouTube but it was all directly done from the phone.
I think I’ll do this from now on.
My sincere apologies to my Instagram (and my ex-Snapchat) network for doing this. I know there’ll be less comments, the video by the time you will see it will not be as current but nevertheless I’m doing this as a change in my routine and improve these videos. Hope you like it.
