This Month’s Stories of Personal Learning for June 2018

Here are this month’s snap stories of personal learning for June 2018.

Every week and every month, I like to review these videos to see what I have been doing every day and it’s a great way to capture all my work and learning – and also to see my progress towards my own professional or personal goals.

I decided to do a monthly reflection this time again simply because I am able to allocate an hour every month to review all these videos and to take notes as to which ones I will use as references in the future – which ones I need to come back to revisit and of course, other ones which are cringe-worthy.

I use these videos as an online portfolio of my work – an online CV if you will. and here is what I worked and learned in June.

Monday 4 June 2018

I like my morning walks and this morning, I take a walk near the beach and talk about what I love about my own city of Melbourne.  The things most pressing on my mind is my upcoming trip to the Australian Institute of Training and Development Conference in Sydney and booking my Sydney hotel (which, I booked dirt cheap and it showed when I finally arrived).

Tuesday 5 June 2018

Today I talk more about how I prepare and pack from my upcoming trips to Sydney as well as Europe.  This is like a packing video from YouTube (but of lesser quality)…

Thursday 6 June 2018

I’m at the National AITD Conference today and this video had the most views as I shared it on Twitter.  I spent most of the day on the Expo floor looking at all the vendors and displays and more time at the Microsoft stand in preparation for my upcoming new role as an Adoption Consultant at Adopt and Embrace where we help business use Office 365.  It was my first chance to experiment with MS Teams.

Friday 7 June 2018

I spent more time on the expo floor than attending AITD presentations (truth be told I went to only 3 presentations at AITD, one of which was one of my own presentations on How to Use Video). The rest of the time was mucking in and playing with the gear at the conference expo hall and meeting people.  I spent half a day with the Google Educators as well because what they were doing to educate and inform others about Google was superb – and it was fun.  I won a whole heap of swag too…

Tuesday 12 June 2018

Today I pontificate about how I want to start exploring more video creation in landscape and still unsure about using Snapchat as my video editor or just use the camera.  I also talk about joining Adopt and Embrace.

Wednesday 13 June 2018

Packing is done and today I focus on learning more about Liminal Thinking.

Thursday 19 June 2018

I’m in Ghent!  Imagine my surprise when I see some weird coffee machines and try to figure out how they work.  Luckily snapping about these meant that people all around the world had immediately given me feedback on what I was doing wrong. YouTube also helped too. I still don’t know how to make a decent cuppa though.

Saturday 23 June 2018

Travelling from Bruge to Amsterdam, I finally hit this big city and get ready for my Amsterdam meetup!

Sunday 24 June 2018

Spending a day in Amsterdam.

Monday 25 June 2018

Today was all about getting some video coaching from Cameron Murray (CNT News Channel) as well as filming a couple of stories for the show!

Extra Videos

There are more videos I created for my time at Leiden however, these are more of a personal nature and as such as unlisted.  However, I did make a couple of videos on Belgium and the Netherlands instead.

Belgium

The Netherlands

[…] When I think of Amsterdam, I think of the great (and mostly wonderful) memories for me. The Netherlands will always be a country near and dear to my heart because of the friendships made during my time on a Vocational Exchange but also in recent times, meeting a friend there in person at a time I felt I was the most creative I’ve ever been in my life when we were creating stories for a Snapchat news story where I played a Luddite Foreign Correspondent, S… […]
