Here are this month’s snap stories of personal learning for May 2018.
Every week and every month, I like to review these videos to see what I have been doing every day and it’s a great way to capture all my work and learning – and also to see my progress towards my goals.
I decided to do a monthly reflection this time again simply because I am able to allocate an hour every month to review all these videos and to take notes as to which ones I will use as references in the future – which ones I need to come back to revisit and of course, other ones which are cringe-worthy.
I use these videos as an online portfolio of my work – an online CV if you will. and here is what I worked and learned in May.

Today I shared an introduction to Working Out Loud. This concept is to show and share your work publicly. Ever since I started to WOL, I’ve had more opportunities come to me than I would have if I kept silent. When you share your work and reflections about your work, your network is able to share as well as filter information and new connections to you. I can honestly say that WOL for me has oppened up new work opportunities, found new business and tapped me to networks and people I would never have otherwise met.

Today I share the key learning I get from my alter ego foreign correspondent for fake news channel CNT, Shazza Breaknews and how being part of this collaboration has in effect given me more high-value skills that could directly apply to my work than other training courses. Why? We are continually collaborating, co-operating and creating consistent creative content and churning out new ideas every week. Now THAT’s a skill that most employers want their teams to have.
Monday 7 May 2018
Today is a reflection for #LDVid30 about social learning and performance improvement. I share how much value I get from focussing on the process and not the end result.
Tuesday 8 May 2018
Printer woes, a haircut and a fantastic interview with Des Herbert on Live Lab, his Facebook Live Channel was the order of the day here. I also talk about our council rates (and how they’re worked out) and the process of responding to LinkedIn invitations to connect.
Wednesday 9 May 2018
Today I get excited about the Intellectual Dark Web but then I go on an exploratory journey and find out who really is behind it – Peter Thiel – then I’m not so excited anymore and it’s promptly ignored because of all the alarm bells ringing in my head.
Monday 14 May 2018
Our 18 year old pet cat, Tigga, passed away recently which affected me greatly. I wasn’t prepared for the grief I experienced and which meant that I had no interest in snapping, social media or even doing any work. I spent over a week knitting instead and in quiet contemplation. Still miss her.
Monday 21 May 2018
Today I talk about how I found out about the Internet Wayback Machine and how I used it to go back in time to explore all the old social media sites. A blast from the past!
Tuesday 22 May 2018
What do you think of reblogging other people’s content? Is it stealing? That’s the question I answer in today’s snap story.
