Here are this week’s snap stories of personal learning commencing 4 September 2017.
Monday 4 September 2017
Today I talk about my work as a learning consultant and how it’s important to be continually learning. I take on a serious look and deliver this snap story without much fan fare that is my usual manner. I also talk about my observation of some people my age or older believing that they are beyond learning how to use social media and ponder that my value is also helping people here.

Today I was fascinated with a video that Robert Scoble had shared on his Facebook page about Facebook Live Spaces in Occulus Rift which was the next stage of the webinar. In these spaces, your avatar (ie. you) could interact with others in a virtual world and effectively set up a classroom. I wondered why in a virtual world, you still have typical classroom set ups but nevertheless, the app is currently available on Occulus Rift and you can use Facebook Live Spaces. It’ll only be a matter of time before this is available o everyone. I can’t wait to try it out.
In this snap story, I also express my frustrations of being a learning consultant and I consider whether it’s time for me to pivot into something new like social media coaching for non-learning people.

Today I delve into how I am preparing for my VET Conference presentation on Snapchat for Learning. I also go through all the equipment I usually carry to such workshops and how I get myself ready.
Friday 8 September 2017
It’s a pity that I accidentally deleted this entire snap story because I had deliberately created it to be interesting as I was presenting to VET educators today in Torquay. I took the snap story about the drive over there, interviewed people and shared some snap tips. I even went down to the beach to take some video footage of the surfers….but all gone!

VIDCON! Wow, what a day. I’m glad I captured VidCon and the sessions I was attending at the Creator track today. What an experience! I think VidCon owes itself its own blog post so going to put my thinking hat around that. The highlight of the day was meeting my favourite mobile and vertical film maker and story teller Andy Burgess whose Snapchat videos are beautiful. He was so open and sharing of his knowledge and gave me some tips to improve my snaps. Oh, and I also got a chance to check out the Snap spectacles!

Day 2 of VidCon and still going strong. The highlight of this day was meeting other educators who use YouTube as their platform to educate their subject matter expertise. Doctors, mental health professionals, accountants, you name it. People are out there educating others and getting massive followings because the way they explain concepts are easier to understand than their teachers!
