Here are this week’s snap stories of personal learning commencing 11 September 2017.

Today I share my process for how I am planning and preparing my presentation on Curation in Learning for LearnTech Asia 2017 in Singapore in November. I talk about how I used Mind Meister to create a mind map for my talk, then write it out in full in MS Word before creating the MS PowerPoint. I also mention that I’m going to use the Hero’s Journey to explain the full story to keep it interesting. Later that evening I head into Melbourne to go and see a Story Telling in Virtual Reality presentation.

Today I talk about a Facebook Course that I’m doing that was delivered by chat bot. I found the whole process seamless and quite easy. I’m now a convert to chat bots for streamlining processes that would otherwise take time to do such as course registrations via email. Chat bots have so many uses in delivering learning or ‘micro learning’ to you anytime, anywhere on your mobile device. Yes, thank you. I’ll have more of that. Before you knock it, I suggest you give it a go first before casting judgement!

So the week is progressing as fast as it can and today I actually had a client meeting (yay!). This client wanted some help with their social media strategy in particularly using social media for their training programs. I helped to understand what their particular needs were and offered some ways they could approach social media based on their current knowledge, skills and abilities with it. It’s the type of work I love to do because it gives me a chance to dispel the negative stereotypes and myths around social media and show people how they can use it to build communities and networks. Most of all, share their work out to the world.

Last day of the week and today saw me continuing to talk further about the use of chat bots in learning and provide more details of this Facebook course. Something tells me that we won’t see the end of chat bots. If anything….the automation has just begun…
