February 2023My backyard is now my happy place. After having it totally landscaped last year, on most days when the sun is out, I’m out there too. Its where I breakfast and lunch most days now. It’s a lot easier to maintain now that we have had it tiled, fences redone and ivy destroyed. I now feel that I can keep on top of everything. I’ve kept some of the old plants that were in our garden as cuttings which were also replanted into pots.Yesterday I potted up this Lisbon lemon tree. I’m going for a Mediterranean garden which means that all plants are those found in the warmer southern climes of Europe. All pots are rounded or urns to keep in theme too.I potted up this lime as well. Although strictly not southern European, we go through a lot of limes so I may as well have one. I think though I should have also bought an olive tree to pot as well.I found a pot place nearby that sells these great pots and urns for great prices. Each pot is lined with a planting bag that has handles. If I ever need to move the plant, I just pick it up from the handles and move it.
Thankfully it doesn’t get too cold where I need to move plants indoors or under cover. Over winter I can leave them out if need be.
Over time, I’ll buy some outdoor furniture or an outdoor oven and put a cover over the top, but for now, I’m happy as it is. One step at a time.
Next month, work starts on the front garden too which I can’t wait. For the last few years, we have decided to forego travelling and instead focus on the work done to the house so that we can enjoy it through the years. The more we do now, the easier it will be for us in the future.
