Monday Afternoon in the Garden

August 2023

I played my 18 holes of golf this morning with 25 points. I had lunch at the club then stopped by Bunnings to see if they had any strawberry plants. This year, I’d like to plant some in pots and see how they grow.

The afternoon was spent propagating more cuttings and creating a whole heap of them so that I can give away to friends and family. The weather is mild, the sun is out and I’m insanely happy to be out here enjoying it. Being cooped up inside all winter which has been wet and cold, was getting to me.

I always wanted my plants to be in containers because I find them easier on my back – and there’s less weeding. The backyard landscaping has not only been good for that but I think, for my mental health and well-being.

The plants are blooming
From offcuts of our roof, I created these bamboo backdrops for the violas which I planted for spring and summer colour.
I potted some petunias and violas for these to hopefully bloom and explode with colour in the next couple of months
After an afternoon of potting flowers and propagation, I enjoy a banana cake I baked yesterday and a cup of coffee.
