August 2024
This morning was an exceptionally foggy morning. The radio was blasting announcements to stay home and travel later in the day as the fog on the roads was heavy.
I had an 8am tee off time and arrived earlier. I prefer playing golf early in the morning and being one of the first there because I want to see the sun rise.
This morning, fog was all over the course and as I looked over the 1st and 9th holes, it was like I was looking at a watercolour painting. Muted greys of trees outlined by a yellow sky as the sun was rising above the trees.
It was quiet and still too. A perfect golfing day. I count myself lucky to have this place to come to (despite not playing so well these last few months. 🤣)
The fog started to lift about 9 am to reveal a gloriously blue sky and the temperature reached 19 degrees. Unseasonally warm for our winter.
I didn’t play so well today. Or indeed these last few months and even though I play at least three times a week plus I get lessons now and again, there’s something a miss.
I’m beginning to think that I care too much for this game. It’s psychological. I need to care less to play better.

After a round of 18 holes, I stayed back and had a bit of lunch and coffee with the ladies which I enjoyed. I count myself lucky to be playing this during the week and having a “third place” that I can go to anytime and have people to socialise.
