Colourised Old Films

January 2024

I spent a few hours today watching old films. When they’ve been colourised and no doubt sprinkled with some magic AI and there’s something that seems a little more “real” about them. Having the soundtrack too makes the film that more emotive so you can’t help but get sucked in. Or to start crying like I did with a few of them that were on traumatised soldiers of World War 1.

On the big screen, they’re something else. Not actors, not scripted. Real people over hundred years ago getting on with life.

It makes you realise just how much we haven’t changed.

Here are some that are fascinating to watch:

A day at the beach. Check out their fantastic clothes. Everyone looks elegant. Unlike today.
Pope Leo smiles for the camera.
I love the way they dressed back then.
Amazing colour footage of WW1
Home movies of 1902
Superb fashions and look at how they danced in the 1920s
